Le Monde Covers Parcours des Mondes 2015

This year's upcoming edition of Parcours des Mondes was the subject of a June article in Le Monde. Examining the growth and popularity of the event and the tribal art market at large, the piece featured Jacaranda amid a group of distinguished international tribal art dealers and led with a highlight of a gorgeous Tsonga headrest in our collection. 

"Quant aux prix glanés dans les différentes galeries, ils varient selon la rareté, la traçabilité, l’état de l’objet. Ainsi, Roger Bourahimou vend ses pièces « rares et atypiques d’Afrique centrale » entre 1 500 et 200 000 euros. Chez Dori et Daniel Rootenberg de la galerie Jacaranda, basée à New-York et spécialisée dans l'art d'Afrique du Sud, cet appui-tête tsonga est à 5 500 euros et ce rare knobkerrie (bâton) avec un conteneur de tabac à priser à 20 000 euros."

Tribal Art Sale at Eve

Parcours des Mondes 2014

For its 13th edition, taking place September 9–14, Parcours des Mondes will have the pleasure of presenting 68 exhibitors, half of them coming from outside of France, and with the exceptional participation of nine American art dealers, including the Thomas Murray, Bruce Frank, Jacaranda, and Donald Ellis. Arts from Africa will have the place of honor, but also the arts of Asia, Oceania, and the Americas, as well as arts of the Himalayas, Indonesia, India, and elsewhere. Also to be noted is a clear and natural expansion into archaeological works with classical antiquities from Egypt and the Near East.

Tribal Art at Sotheby's

The next sale of tribal art at Sotheby’s willbhonor the great collectors and dealers of the first half of the twentieth century, a seminal period in the history of the appreciation of tribal art in the West, as many of the offerings on December 11 will include so many objects that passed through their hands. The highlight of the auction will undoubtedly be a Fang reliquary figure from Gabon that belonged to Georges de Miré. Another Gabonese reliquary guardian figure, this one of Kota origin and with a prestigious provenance, will also be offered. Previews of the sale will be held on December 6–10.

Secrets d'Ivoire, l'art des Lega d'Afrique centrale

The exhibition Secrets d'Ivoire, l'art des Lega d'Afrique centrale (Secrets of Ivory, The Art of the Lega of Central Africa) presents many masterpieces of Lega art, one of the most important artistic traditions of central Africa. Held in the Jay T. Last collection of the Fowler Museum in Los Angeles, these works are now being shown for the first time in Europe. Passionate about Africa and African art, Jay T. Last started to build an impressive collection some forty years ago that had Lega art as its focus. He is donating more than 240 wood and ivory sculptures to the Fowler Museum that are now on view at the Musée du Quai Branly.

PAD 2013 - Paris

The seventeenth Pavillon des Arts et du Design will take place from March 27-31 in the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris. The event aims to present the best of international achievement in the fields of design, decorative arts, and modern art. It will also offer aficionados of tribal art an exhibition in which four galleries in their field are taking part: Galerie Afrique, Grégory Chesne, Galerie Flak and Galerie Mermoz.

Jacaranda Tribal Presenting at Parcours des Mondes 2012

In just over two weeks' time, Jacaranda Tribal will make its second appearance at the world's preeminent tribal art fair: Parcours des Mondes.  From September 11–16 we will be in the company of sixty-three distinguished international dealers of traditional arts from Africa, Oceania, Asia and the Americas, all based in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district of Paris.

Jacaranda will be presenting one of the few exhibits of fine antiquities from southeast Africa, including rare and important objects from Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, and South Africa.  Additional selections will represent cultures from West and Central Africa, Polynesia, and elsewhere.  Our presentation in 2011 was eagerly received by attendees, and we have assembled another excellent range of works for the eleventh edition of the fair that is sure to delight both connoisseurs of African art and collectors for whom the art of the region is virtually new.
