Tribal Art Sale at Heritage

On November 6, 2015, Heritage will hold a sale featuring American Indian, Pre-Columbian, and tribal art. The Pre-Columbian element of the sale is strong in Central and South American goldwork and other jewelry, and Native American beadwork, pipes, and jewelry will also be offered. The centerpiece of the sale will be the Howard and Catherine Feldman Collection, which features more than 350 masks, largely from Mexico and the Himalayas, as well as a substantial number of Congo maskettes.

Tribal Art Auction at Zemanek-Münster

Zemanek-Münster will present their 81st sale of tribal art and artifacts in Würzburg on October 31.  The  large auction will present a wide array of sculptural works, highlighting a number of beautiful figures from West and Central Africa. Asian art will also be included alongside traditional works from Oceania, the Himalayas and elsewhere.

Christie's Tribal Art Preview in Paris

On September 8–15, set to coincide with this year's edition of Parcours des Mondes, Christie's is exhibiting a selection of highlights from their upcoming December sale of African, Oceanic and Native American art in Paris. The installation, on view at 9 ave Mantignon, will feature a range of fine tribal works, including a Fang figure from the collection of André Fourquet.

Visions of Humanity in The Exceptional Sale - Christie's

Christie's will present a special selection entitled Visions of Humanity as part of The Exceptional Sale on July 9 in London. While the larger sale focuses on decorative arts and furniture, Visions of Humanity comprises a range of tribal African and classical European works.  Highlights of the special selections, pictured below, include a magnificent Luba bowstand attributed to the Warua Master and a  beautiful Chokwe warrior figure.

Tribal Art Sale at Sotheby's

Sotheby’s will hold its spring sale of art from Africa, Oceania, and the ancient Americas in New York on May 15. It will be led by a rare Pende helmet mask that was featured in the 1984 Primitivism show at MOMA. Also featured will be highlights from the New York estate of the late Helena Segy and, by extension, the personal collection of her noted husband, Ladislas Segy. Significant among these are a rare Ngbandi ivory spoon and an unusually early Kota reliquary. A large and fine Lobi couple from the collection of Karl-Ferdinand Schaedler and an Mbembe figure once owned by Georg Baselitz will also be offered. An unusual highlight of the sale is an extremely early Kanak stone figure from New Caledonia collected by the missionary Père Pierre Lambert between 1856 and 1863.

Tribal Art Sale at Auctionata

Berlin-based Auctionata will hold a sale of art from Africa and Oceania on March 31 from its “auction studio” in New York. This auction house’s mission is to utilize an interactive online presence, so while its sales function as traditional auctions, bidding is done absentee, by phone, or online. This sale features a variety of offerings, the highlight of which is a pre-WWII Senufo figure.
